Student artwork transcends at downtown gallery

Art aficionados may catch the works of up-and-coming artists at 437CO, Colorado Mesa University’s art gallery, this month. From Feb. 1–26, the CMU Department of Art and Design presents Transcend, the first of four exhibits featuring artwork from seniors graduating from the studio art program.

Transcend showcases the artwork of Kayla Golub, Matthew Jones and Ethan Dow, and encompasses a variety of mediums including ceramics, printmaking, painting and drawing. As part of their “Senior Seminar & Portfolio” course, students coordinate the senior exhibits as preparation for future professional careers in visual arts.

On Feb. 5 there will be a public reception to view the exhibit and meet the artists. The reception runs from 5–9pm with an artist talk scheduled for 5:30pm.

437CO is located at 437 Colorado Avenue in Grand Junction. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 12–5pm, and admission is free. For more information, call the CMU art department at 970.248.1833.
