During his time at Colorado Mesa University, Robinson made the school’s theatre department a destination for hundreds of aspiring actors and theater production craftspeople.

Memorial celebration for William S. Robinson

A celebration of the life of William S. Robinson will be held at the Robinson Theatre at 1pm on Saturday, May 23. Theatre alumni, friends and family will present tribute performances.

Robinson died on March 29 at the age of 92. He came to the institution in 1950 and his intention was to stay for a year. In 1960 he was named the theatre department chair, a position he held until his retirement in 1988.

During his time at Colorado Mesa University, Robinson made the school’s theatre department a destination for hundreds of aspiring actors and theater production craftspeople. In 1993, the theatre in which he worked for many years was renamed the William S. Robinson Theatre.
