Colorado Mesa University will offer courses in manufacturing technology at the CMU Montrose campus this month in response to requests from manufacturers, elected officials and community members in Montrose. Courses including Introduction to Manufacturing and Blueprint Reading will be offered through Western Colorado Community College.
“From the new Makerspace to the continued expansion of the CMU Montrose campus, a lot of exciting things are happening in Montrose to support manufacturing and grow a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship,” said CMU President Tim Foster. “We’re listening to employers and moving quickly to meet their needs.”
These college level, for-credit courses lead into manufacturing fields such as machining, welding and computer aided drafting, as well as providing a good base for engineering-related fields. A full manufacturing program, including hands-on machining classes, will be offered in Montrose in the near future.
