Tomlinson expansion and renovation starts soon

“Libraries represent the diversity and immensity of human thought, our collective knowledge laid out in rows of revealing inspiration.”

— Manuel Lima
Designer, author, lecturer and researcher

Work will soon begin on the expansion and renovation of the John U. Tomlinson Library with completion of the project by fall 2015. The state will contribute $18.46 million toward the $24.6 million project.

The addition will add a more than 24,000 square-feet to the library and there will be a comprehensive remodeling of the existing building. The project will add more study space to the building, accommodate new books and technology and provide space for food service.

Informational sessions will be held in the University Center next Thursday from 1 to 7pm and Friday from 8am to noon so students, faculty and staff may take a closer look at the plans for the new library and share their thoughts about how to best provide ongoing library services during the project.
