Lilia! comes to Robinson Theatre one night only

Writer and performer Libby Skala brings her one-woman show, Lilia!, to CMU’s Robinson Theatre on Sept. 7. Skala’s grandmother, Lilia, was an Oscar-nominated actress, a friend of Mesa’s Bill Robinson and a frequent guest artist on campus in the ‘60s and ‘70s.

One of the first women to receive a degree in architecture and engineering from the University of Dresden, Lilia practiced architecture professionally in Vienna before becoming one of Austria’s leading stage actresses. After Hitler invaded her native country in 1939, Lilia immigrated to the United States and worked her way to an Oscar nomination for the film Lilies of the Field. Lilia! captures the journey of this remarkable woman.
