Maverick Classic - April 18-20, 2014

Join more than 200 cyclists for the 3rd annual Maverick Classic presented by U.S. Bank and Western Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. This event is the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference Championship and features a four-event stage race open to the public. The weekend's events include a criterium in downtown Fruita, a team and individual time trial in Fruita, a criterium in downtown Grand Junction, and finally a road race in Palisade.

Collegiate riders may compete in the Fruita Team Time Trial, Grand Junction Criterium, and Palisade Road Race.

Open-class riders will compete in all four stages. See below for detailed information on all events.

Entry Fees

Collegiate Riders - $20 per event or $50 for all 3 races (Fruita Team Time Trial, Grand Junction Downtown Criterium, and Palisade Road Race)

Stage Race (Non-Collegiate) Riders - $100

Fruita Community Fat Tire Criterium - $20


Register online at Online registration closes Wednesday, April 16, 2014. There will be an additional $10 fee for day-of registration.

No individual race registration will occur after these registration periods.

There is a minimum requirement of 8 registered cyclists per category.

  • Collegiate Registration/Pick-up
    • 6:30 - 8:00 am Saturday, April 19 at Fruita Community Center (324 N. Coulson St., Fruita, CO 81521)
  • Stage Race Registration
    • 12:00 - 1:30 pm Friday, April 18 at Civic Center's parking lot (325 Aspen Ave., Fruita, CO 81521)

License Information

Collegiate Riders - must have collegiate license

Non-Collegiate Riders -

  • USAC 1-Day Beginner license: $15, only for Cat 5 men, Cat 4 women and Juniors who have never previously held a USAC license with a higher category. Can only be purchased at Bring receipt to race. Annual licenses available online at
  • BRAC annual membership recommended to avoid BRAC 1-Day membership ($5) on race day. (BRAC 1-Day Membership exempt with USAC 1-Day). Annual Memberships available online at

All USAC rules apply; held under USAC Permit #2014-1349.
