Out-of-State Tuition Programs

With the Mountains and Plains (M&P) and Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Tuition Programs, students in designated states have the opportunity to enroll in any undergraduate program at Colorado Mesa University at reduced tuition rates. Eligible students pay approximately 150 percent of Colorado in state tuition. Students who completed 12 credit hours per semester at Colorado Mesa University during the 2010-2011 Academic Year paid about $3,805 in tuition and student fees per semester, compared to an out of state cost of nearly $6,571 in tuition and student fees. That’s a savings of $2,766 per semester, or $5,532 per academic year! View our full tuition table. Remember, tuition and fees are subject to change.

To continue receiving the benefits of the M&P or WUE Tuition Program once awarded, students agree to:

  • Enroll in and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each consecutive fall and spring semester;
  • For summer eligibility students must enroll in and complete a minimum of 6 credit hours;
  • Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA each academic year; and
  • Keep their state driver’s license, to prove their ties to their home state.*

*Students are granted the special tuition program because they are a permanent resident of their home WUE or M&P state. As such, time accrued while participating in the tuition program cannot be used to establish domiciliary intent (12 month physical presence) for purposes of claiming Colorado residency. Students wishing to pursue Colorado in-state status for tuition purposes must notify the Tuition Classification Officer in writing of their desire to decline their tuition program. They would then be charged out-of-state tuition during the 12-month domiciliary period prior to the semester for which they petition for in-state status. Please call 970.248.1458 for further detail.

If all requirements are maintained, a student's tuition program will be available until they obtain their bachelor's degree or reach a maximum of 120 total credit hours. This program is available for undergraduate course work only. If maintenance requirements are not met, a student's tuition program will be cancelled. Tuition will be changed to out-of-state without further notice.

Freshman and transfer students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 may be eligible for additional academic scholarship. View New and Transfer Scholarships.
