Leadership Opportunities

On-campus living offers you many leadership opportunities. Residents partner with the Residence Life Staff in planning social and recreational activities, educational or cultural events and making decisions for the hall community.

Residence Hall Council

The Residence Hall Council is an extension of the campus organization known as the Residence Hall Association and acts as the governing body for each residence hall. The Residence Hall Council of each building is comprised of an elected executive board, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Publicist, and both RHA and floor Representative. By joining the Residence Hall Council within your building you will have the opportunity to help shape your community by discussing a wide variety of issues while organizing and promoting numerous activities throughout the year.

Residence Hall Association

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is your residence hall and apartment government. RHA has many objectives and goals, focusing a large portion of their effort toward being the residents’ voice and advocating residents’ issues to the Housing Office, campus and Grand Junction community. RHA works closely with housing administration to produce positive changes in campus living. In addition to their governmental and liaison roles with the college and community, RHA plans and executes events, programs and community service projects for your enjoyment.
Joining RHA through your Residence Hall Council is an excellent way to meet new friends and get involved with the issues that directly affect you and your "home." This experience will also provide outstanding opportunities to develop interpersonal, time management, leadership, communication and organizational skills.

National Residence Hall Honorary

The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the recognition branch of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). NACURH truly believes that recognition is a must in a strong Residence Hall community. As such, NRHH is there to make sure that we don't forget to recognize give those needing a more than deserved pat on the back. The National Residence Hall Honorary is a selective organization comprised of the top one percent of all students in colleges and universities’ residence halls across the country. At no time is any chapter permitted to admit more than one percent of its total residence hall population. Members of NRHH participate in philanthropy opportunities throughout the academic year as well as provide programming opportunities for the residential community as a whole to come together.

Conduct Board

The Conduct Board hears discipline cases that occur within our residence halls and apartments. The benefits to being a board member are that you gain a better understanding of housing policies; you gain experience in conflict resolution and mediation; you develop your communication skills; and you better understand your values and beliefs. Come and meet new people, help make a difference and help shape the on-campus environment.
