Engineering Department Scholarships

  • These scholarships are only available to students without a prior baccalaureate degree, unless otherwise noted.
  • Value $amounts are subject to change pending funds available.
  • Deadline for all scholarships unless otherwise noted: March 1

 

Ted and Maxine Albers Scholarship

Value: $2000

Criteria:

  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be enrolled in Science or Math seeking a degree in Engineering or Teaching.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

Dieter Sander Engineering Scholarship

Value: Tuition & Fees

Criteria:

  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Class rank of Junior or Senior.
  • Must be enrolled and majoring in the Mechanical Engineering Program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Must be a legal U.S. citizen and a resident of Colorado.
  • Must have no felony convictions.

Deadline: April 1

Grand Valley Power Engineering Scholarship

Value: $1000

Criteria:

  • Must reside in a home served by Grand Valley Power.
  • Must be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Program or have a letter of acceptance from Colorado Mesa University in the Mechanical Engineering Program.
  • Must provide two Letters of Recommendation from non-relatives.
  • Must provide a 500-word essay describing the career path chosen and why.

Deadline: March 15

 

Halliburton Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Class rank of Freshman or Sophomore.
  • Must be majoring in the Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Student must submit a two-page essay on How the Energy Industry Impacts His/Her Life.

 

Joy and Alfred Shideler Scholarship

Value:  In-state tuition and fees (maximum of 12 credit hours per semester).

Criteria:

  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2.
  • Must be enrolled in any area of Engineering or Medical careers.
  • Must demonstrate financial need.

 

Society of Petroleum Engineers Scholarship

Criteria:

  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program.
  • Suggested application minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be a resident of one of the following counties:  Colorado counties:  Garfield, Mesa, Delta, Montrose, San Miguel, Ouray, Gunnison, Pitkin or Eagle.  Utah county - Grand.
  • Scholarship may be renewed as long as minimum requirements are met and students re-apply.

Deadline: January 1

 

Ute Chapter of Professional Engineers of Colorado Scholarship

Value:  $500

Criteria:

  • Must attend Colorado Mesa University full-time (at least 12 credits per semester).
  • Must be finishing their freshman year, enrolled in engineering, who is considering transferring to a four-year college or univerity to complete their Engineering education.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Preference given to a residents of the Western Slope, Colorado.
