CMU is Going Green!

Colorado Mesa University is committed to energy efficiency, and Facilities Services plays a huge part in that commitment.  Over the next several months, we will be analyzing campus energy usage and searching for ways we can lower our energy impact.

We need your help

Once again, Facilities Services cannot accomplish our goal of lower energy use and cost without your help. Here are some small steps you can take to conserve energy and be part of a bigger lifestyle.

In your dorm room:

  • Turn off computers, TVs and other electronics before going to sleep or leave the room.
  • Unplug chargers, electronics or small appliances not in use.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • Turn off the water while you brush your teeth.
  • Close windows before you leave.
  • Close blinds before you leave.
  • Turn down the heat or air conditioning before you leave.  Do not turn heat off completely.
  • When going away for long breaks, clean out and unplug your small refrigerators. Leave the door open.
  • Turn off the lights before you leave.

In your office:

  • Turn off desktop computers, electronics and printers before leaving for the day.
  • Turn off lights when you leave.
  • Unplug electronics and small appliances not in use.
  • Close windows before you leave.
  • Close blinds before you leave.
  • Turn down heat and air conditioning before leaving.

In your classrooms:

  • Turn off projectors before leaving.
  • Close blinds before leaving.
  • Turn off lights when you leave.

Will you commit?

Take this survey and let us know if you are will to commit to making small changes for a great impact around campus.
