Admission

The admission process for the CMU/CU-Boulder Civil and Mechanical Engineering Partnership Programs requires that a student meet the admission requirements for the CU-Boulder College of Engineering. A student may apply for admission to the CMU/CU-Boulder Civil and Mechanical Engineering Partnership Programs when they have established a successful collegiate record as demonstrated through one of the following scenarios.

  • Scenario One:  A student may apply to the CMU/CU-Boulder Civil or Mechanical Engineering Partnership Program when they have achieved all three of the following conditions:
    1. completion of a two-course sequence in calculus at CMU with a grade of "B" or higher, and
    2. completion of two physical science courses at CMU (calculus-based physics and/or college chemistry) with a grade of "B" or higher, and
    3. Overall GPA of 3.0 or better for all courses at CMU.
  • Scenario Two:  A student may apply to the CMU/CU-Boulder Civil or Mechanical Engineering Partnership Program after completion of the sequence of courses listed on the current Mechanical Engineering Curriculum Plan for Freshman and Sophomore Years at CMU with a combined grade point average in these courses not lower than 3.0, and an overall CMU cumulative grade point average not lower than 3.0.
