Admission

Admissions requirements for the CMU/CU-Boulder Mechanical Engineering Partnership Program (BSME) and the CMU MET (BSMET) program are different.  Admission to the BSME program requires that student meet the admission requirements for the CU-Boulder College of Engineering.  Admission to the BSMET program is achieved by admission to CMU.

Admission Requirements

The admission process for the CMU/CU-Boulder Mechanical Engineering Partnership Program is as follows:

  • Apply for admission to CMU indicating Mechanical Engineering as intended major
  • Application is routed to CU-Boulder for review
    • If accepted to CU-Boulder as new freshman, then admitted to CMU as an ME major.
    • If not accepted to CU-Boulder as new freshman, then
      • If ready for Calculus 1 (or higher) – admit to CMU as a General Engineering major.  Take the first one or two years of engineering classes and apply for admission to CU after first or second year.
      • If not ready for Calculus  1 – admit to CMU as Pre-Engineering major to take preparatory math and other classes.  Take the first one or two years of engineering classes and apply for admission to CU after first or second year.
