Shauna Acker, DNP, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Graceland University. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Nursing with a certificate in Nurse Midwifery from the University of Kansas and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. Acker, DNP, has a varied background in nursing including cardiovascular intensive care unit, pediatrics, oncology and obstetrics caring for a wide variety of critically ill patients.

When she worked as a leading American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator for the University of Kansas she educated thousands of health care providers. Acker, DNP, was also part of the Colorado Health Service Corp, providing care to those in rural Colorado that had limited access to care. Currently, she is providing care to women on the front range in primary care and ob/gyn.

She started teaching for Colorado Mesa University in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in 2013. Acker, DNP, has a passion for online education and finding innovative ways to deliver the course material and connect with her students.
