Biography

Janet Benedict teaches the nursing course 373L Acute/Chronic 1 Clinical. In addition, she is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at CMU. Benedict has been a practicing registered nurse for approximately 20 years with extensive experience working in the ICU, ER and post-anesthesia care units. She is excited about teaching the BSN students as she has always enjoyed mentoring students, and evidently, they felt that she gave them an exceptional clinical experience as they request her often.

She came to Grand Junction from Tucson, AZ in 2004. Benedict is married and has three grown children, four grandchildren and four dogs. Benedict has a passion for bicycling and swimming although she has not been physically able to engage in those activities for the last couple of years. Her hope is to start again as soon as the weather permits.

Benedict's hope is that her enthusiasm for acquiring new knowledge will be infectious. She is always approachable and willing to listen and teach. She is also thoroughly enjoying being a student herself. Benedict is thrilled to be on the path to becoming a nurse practitioner, which has always been a dream of hers.
