To keep prices as low as possible, we stock as many USED books as we are able to purchase. In addition, select titles are available in Rental or Electronic formats. Additional rental titles are available through our textbook ordering page.

Here are some helpful hints about buying textbooks.

  • Bring a photo ID- preferably your MAVcard, but a driver's license will work.
  • Textbooks will cost you approximately $100.00 to $150.00 per class, or about $500.00 to $750.00 per semester.
  • The bookstore accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX, personal and out-of-town checks, traveler's cheques, MAVcard Flex Account and cash. PER VISA, MASTERCARD AND DISCOVER CARD RULES, ONLY THE AUTHORIZED CARD-HOLDER MAY MAKE CREDIT CARD PURCHASES.
  • Students enrolled for Spring 2012 will have the option of charging directly to their student account. Credit is limited to $50 per enrolled credit hour, with a maximum of $600 available credit. All charges are subject to applicable repayment deadlines, service charges, fees, etc. More information regarding account repayment is available through the Business Office (coloradomesa.edu/businessoffice). Charge option will be available at the start of the semester only.
  • MAVcard Flex Account is the best option for parents who will be paying for books but will not be present for the purchase or refund of those books (call the MAVcard Office at 970.248.1059 to add money to the account or add money online).
  • We recommend that you go to class before buying any books listed as optional, and that you wait for a little while before purchasing all the titles for a class that requires multiple titles. However, make sure you purchase all the books you will need by mid-semester. We begin returning unsold copies to the publisher then.
  • Once you are sure that you won't need to return a book, personalize it in some way that will make it easy to identify as yours in case it is stolen. For example, choose page 72 in each of your books and draw a happy face in green highlighter. Report all stolen books to the bookstore ASAP.
  • After the first week of class, if we don't have a book that you need, we will take your name and phone number, and reserve the next available copy for you.
