Scholarships are available for continuing art students at Colorado Mesa University. The Art and Design Department annually rewards talented students with financial assistance. Scholarship applications for the following academic year are typically due early in the spring semester. Apply by logging in to MAVzone and visiting the Student Finance tab.
Student Gallery Director
Each year the position of student gallery director is awarded to one outstanding student, and includes a generous stipend to help with tuition. The gallery director position offers an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate to learn the business of gallery management. A wonderful resume item!
Mesa Emerging Designers (MED)
Mesa Emerging Designers (MED) is the AIGA student chapter at Colorado Mesa University. This group's purpose is to facilitate professional relationships and dialogue between students and the design community. The activities of MED promote valuable exposure to the many facets of the graphic design industry.
The Art and Design Department offers regular travel opportunities. A trip to Santa Fe was offered in Summer 2012 in conjunction with an Art History class. During the Spring 2012 semester, students enjoyed a trip to San Francisco to visit art museums and galleries. Regularly scheduled trips to France, Italy, and Denver are available to students. Some of our past trips have included New York, Santa Fe, Denver, Aspen and a camping trip to Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. Juried Student Art Show at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts
The Western Colorado Center for the Arts is a non-profit corporation organized to promote the enjoyment and understanding of the arts through educational programs, exhibits, and the acquisition and display of a permanent collection. Each March, the Center hosts a juried Colorado Mesa University Art Exhibit in the main gallery. Top exhibitors receive juror's awards.
