Scholarships

Scholarships are available for continuing art students at Colorado Mesa University. The Art and Design Department annually rewards talented students with financial assistance. Scholarship applications for the following academic year are typically due late in the fall semester. Apply by logging in to MAVzone and visiting the Student Finance tab.

437CO Art Gallery

437CO is CMU's art gallery in downtown Grand Junction. The gallery features CMU senior student work as well as national and international guest artist work. Gallery admission is free and all receptions and artist events are free and open to the public. For more information about current and upcoming exhibition visit the 437CO Art Gallery website.

Gallery Participation

Each Art & Design student club group rotates assisting the Faculty Gallery Director with installing exhibitions, working during the First Friday opening reception, working with the invited artists, and de-installing the exhibitions. If you are interested in being a part of the gallery process join one of our Art & Design student clubs.

Desert Dog Press

Desert Dog Press is a community print shop located in downtown Grand Junction that is a part of the CMU Art & Design Department. Letterpress, printmaking, screen printing and book arts are DDP's specialty. They have multiple letterpress machines with wood and metal type available, a beautiful etching press and soon they will have a four color t-shirt press.  They offer workshops throughout the year as well as open studio hours for artists to use the space for their own projects. Art & Design Clubs

Mesa Emerging Designers (MED): This group's purpose is to facilitate professional relationships and dialogue between students and the design community. The activities of MED promote valuable exposure to the many facets of the graphic design industry. If you are interested in being a part of MED each out to Professor Eli Hall.

CMU Clay Club: The mission of Colorado Mesa University Clay Club is to support and encourage aspiring clay artists. CMU Clay Club creates a positive environment for the development of artistic endeavors and learning ceramic techniques from fellow classmates and visiting artists. If you are interested in joining Clay Club reach out to Professor KyoungHwa Oh.

Print Guild: The guild hand create custom print designs, and then print them to shirts, posters, notebooks and more! They take commissions from clubs, organizations and individuals. If you are interested in joining Print Guild reach out to Professor Joshua Butler.

Animation, Motion, Photography (AMP): AMP is a Colorado Mesa University club focusing on animation, film, and photography. This club is very active and hosts group meeting sand activities as well as participate in the Art & Design Departments annual Artober Fest and other campus events. If you are interested in joining the Animation, Motion, Photography Club (AMP), or for more information please contact Professor Evan Curtis. 


Sculpture Guild: The Sculpture Guild of Colorado Mesa University Offers students an ability to network with fellow student artists to work together and critique sculpture outside of allotted class time. Community events will be organized to fund raise for tools/equipment/material fees for the sculpture lab and foundry. Juried Student Art Show at the The Art Center of Western Colorado

The Art Center (TAC) of Western Colorado is a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting the enjoyment and understanding of the arts through educational programs, exhibits, and the acquisition and display of a permanent collection. Every March, TAC hosts a juried Colorado Mesa University Student Art Exhibit in one of the main gallery spaces.
