Scholarships

Scholarships are available for continuing art students at Colorado Mesa University. The art department annually rewards talented students with financial assistance. Freshmen entering the program are eligible with a portfolio review of creative work. The yearly application deadline is March 1.

Student Gallery Director

Each year the position of student gallery director is awarded to one outstanding student, and includes a full in-state tuition/fee waiver. The gallery manager position offers an excellent opportunity for an undergraduate to learn the business of gallery management. A wonderful resume item!

The Art Club

The Art Club is a student art organization designed to promote visual arts at Colorado Mesa University and in the larger Grand Junction community. Trips are scheduled to regional galleries and museums.

Travel

The Art Department offers yearly travel opportunities. A trip to Sante Fe is planned for this coming summer 2012 in conjunction with an Art History class. This past semester (Spring 2012), students enjoyed a trip to San Francisco to see the art museums and galleries. Regularly scheduled trips to France, Italy, and Denver are available to students with the next trip to Europe planned for January 2014. Some of our past trips have included New York, New York, Aspen, Colorado and a campout trip to Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. Campus Design Studio

Located in the University Center, the Campus Design Studio is a full-service studio providing opportunities for graphic design students to apply creative skills. Design students bring professional print and Web design services to Colorado Mesa University student organizations, departments, faculty, staff and community organizations in the Grand Junction area.

Western Colorado Center for the Arts

The Western Colorado Center for the Arts is a non-profit corporation organized to promote the enjoyment and understanding of the arts through educational programs, exhibits, and the acquisition and display of a permanent collection. Each March, the Center hosts a juried Colorado Mesa University Art Exhibit in the main gallery. Top exhibitors receive juror's awards.
