You've been accepted! Now what do you do? Don't worry, we have all the steps you need to be sure you get off to a great start.
Request final transcripts. If you applied before completing high school or a college semester, or if you have high school AP, IB or any college credit to transfer, please contact your school and request that your final transcript be mailed directly to theAdmissions Office.

Verify your residency status. If your enclosed acceptance letter states your residency is anything other than you expected, please call our Tuition Classification Officer in the Admissions Office.

Verify your immunizations and selective service registration to avoid registration holds.
Reserve your spot at Colorado Mesa University by paying the $50 enrollment deposit. Log on to MAVzone and follow the steps below to pay the deposit.
- Log in to MAVzone
- Click on the Student Finance tab
- Click on the GO to E-Pay
- Click on the Deposit tab at the top of CMU E-Pay
- Choose a term
- Choose a deposit: Spring or Fall Enrollment Deposit
- Click on Make Deposit Payment
- Enter payment method
Colorado residents should apply for the Colorado Opportunity Fund (COF). After you apply for the stipend you must "authorize" use of your COF benefit. You can do this on MAVzone, your student portal.

MAVzone provides single sign-on access to information about what's happening on campus, your Colorado Mesa University email account, online classes, and network drives. You will also use MAVzone to look up and register for classes (after your first semester), add or drop classes, check grades, view financial aid status, make payments, and more.
To log in, click the MAVzone link in the navigation bar at the top of any page on the CMU website and use your network username and password provided in your acceptance letter. The first time you log into MAVzone, you will be prompted to change your password. If you forget or lose your password, call the IT Helpdesk.

Complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). List Colorado Mesa University's code - 001358 - and your information is automatically submitted to us. You will need a copy of the previous year's federal tax return and W2 statements to complete the online application.

Log onto MAVzone and click on the Student Finance tab to check for correspondence from the Financial Aid Office. We may need additional documentation to process your aid. You may also call us.

Check MAVzone to view your financial aid award. Awards are usually available starting in April for applicants enrolling in the fall.
Review and accept your award using MAVzone. If you are offered loans, you may accept all or part of each loan. If you only wish a portion, state that amount under Accept Partial Amount. Students accepting loans must complete a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Loan Counseling. Parents accepting a Parent PLUS loan must complete a Master Promissory Note and submit a Parent PLUS authorization form.
Apply for additional scholarships. Merit scholarships can be accepted through MAVzone under the Student Finance tab. Check out private scholarships available from the CMU Foundation. Colorado Mesa University has a required on-campus residency policy. All freshmen and sophomore students who are single, under 21 years of age and not residing with their parents in Mesa County are required to live on campus, provided that space is available. Any exceptions to this policy must be submitted to the Office of Residence Life with appropriate documentation and then approved by the Director of Residence Life. Apply for housing online. Use your MAVzone username and password to log in. Apply early as applications are given priority based on the date your completed application is received. Please note cancellation dates in the contract. A completed housing application includes the application, housing and dining contract and housing deposit.

Go to MAVzone to check for your application confirmation sent via email to your CMU email account. Confirmations are sent within two weeks after your application is received.
Choose your room in Colorado Mesa's MyHousing.
Decide where you want to live. Have a first, second and third choice of housing. Room assignments are based on the date your housing application, contract, and deposit were received. Also make sure your lifestyle choices listed in MyHousing are current. Next, choose your roommates, suite-mates or apartment-mates. Set up your "Roommate Group" (if you have one) prior to your online room selection lottery time. If you don't know anyone, that's okay!

Register for orientation. All incoming freshmen from Colorado are required to attend. Out-of-state students are strongly encouraged to attend, but not required.
At orientation, you will:
- Meet with an academic advisor and register for classes;
- Attend informative sessions;
- Learn how to get involved with campus activities;
- Get your MAVcard (student ID);
- Take a tour to become familiar with campus, and more!

Determine if you need to take the ACCUPLACER assessment. The ACCUPLACER helps your academic advisor ensure you are placed in the correct English, reading and/or math classes. If your ACT or SAT scores are at or above the following, you are exempt from the test (ACT: Math-19, English-18, Reading-17; SAT: English-440, Math-460, Reading-430). If you are a science major, you may need to take a chemistry assessment. Please contact the Testing Center for assistance.
You can take your ACCUPLACER before attending orientation. It's offered at any CMU campus or it can be proctored in your hometown.

Consider enrolling in SUPP 101: Intro to Higher Ed. There are two delivery options for this course. It's offered during the traditional semester, or there is a version called the Freshmen Year Initiative (F.Y.I.) that is offered one week before the fall semester begins.
