The mission of TRiO-SSS at Colorado Mesa University is to assist participants in achieving their academic potential, gaining valuable life skills and expanding cultural horizons through one-on-one interactions and group activities.

Program Highlights

The TRIO-SSS program is now in its third year and is sponsored by Colorado Mesa University and the U.S. Department of Education. This program is funded to provide academic and mentoring support, throughout a student's academic career at Colorado Mesa University, and to increase retention and graduation rates.  TRiO is here to provide students the support they need to achieve academic success.  The program will aid qualified students in achieving their goals while connecting them to campus activities that will enrich their college experience. 

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for TRiO-SSS services, participants must be enrolled as a full-time student at CMU and plan to complete a four-year degree program of study.  Participants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. 

If you can answer "yes" to any of the below statements, you may be eligible:

  • Neither of my parents graduated from a four-year college.
  • I have received financial assistance to attend college and am considered low-income.
  • I am a student with a disability.

What is the commitment of the participants?

If selected for this program, you must make a full commitment to your academic success, which means participating in tutoring, mentoring and academic advising as needed.  This program is geared toward helping you achieve your full academic potential.
