The scholastic standing of a student
at Mesa State College is computed on
the basis of all courses attempted at
Mesa State College (unless academic
renewal has been approved). Grades awarded from any other
institution will not be utilized in the
grade point average (GPA) calculation.
Mesa State College uses the four point system in computing the grade point average of its students. Under this system, a student receives four quality points for each semester hour of A; three points for each semester hour of B; two points for each semester hour of C; one point for each semester hour of D; and no quality points for an F.
An example of a student who got an A, B, C, D and F follows:
| Grades | Grade Points |
| 3 Credits of A | 12 |
| 3 Credits of B | 9 |
| 3 Credits of C | 6 |
| 3 Credits of D | 3 |
| 3 Credits of F | 0 |
| 15 Total Credit Hours | 30 Total Points |
30 Total Points / 15 Total Credit Hours = 2.00 GPA
